Scripture
“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…”
— Colossians 3:15
Devotional
The peace of Christ was never meant to be an occasional visitor. It is meant to rule.
When His peace rules, it governs the atmosphere within us. It does not mean life becomes easy. It means His presence becomes more authoritative than our panic.
And when peace rules within, it begins to overflow outward. It affects our words, our tone, our timing, our relationships, our habits, our health choices, our leadership, our homes.
True peace is not self-contained. It becomes a witness for all to see. It is evidence itself. It is fruit. It is a natural outflowing of having a personal relationship with God.
From a Musician’s Perspective
Music is relational. Even when we practice alone, we are preparing to communicate, to collaborate, to influence a room, to join something larger than ourselves. Peace matters artistically because people can feel the atmosphere we carry. In rehearsals, lessons, coaching, auditions, orchestras, chamber music, and performances, a peace ruled heart is anchored in the love of God Himself, and that changes the way we listen, blend, speak, recover, and lead. I know all too well what it feels like to lead from a non anchored, non loving, non peaceful state. The tight grip, the assuming judgment, the self consciousness that steals all the magic and joy, the guardedness, the over control, the rigid thinking. Peace does not make a musician passive. It makes them grounded, rooted. It creates room for generosity, responsiveness, flexibility, courage, and beauty. A peaceful artist can still be intense, disciplined, and excellent, but there is a different fragrance on the work. Our sound is a mirror. Whatever is inside will come out. When peace is in us, it is evident. Our music does not just impress; it blesses.
Reflection
What would it look like for the peace of Christ to rule in me, not just occasionally visit me? Where have I been allowing fear or urgency to govern instead? How could God’s peace flow through me to others?
Prayer
Lord, let Your peace rule in me. Reorder what has been governing my heart. Make me a carrier of Your presence in my home, my conversations, my thoughts, and my choices. Let Your peace overflow from my life.
