Day 3: Stop

Pause, reflect, and let God’s presence transform your reactions.

Day 3: STOP ✋

Scripture

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

— Psalm 46:10

Devotional

Stillness is not weakness. It is not avoidance. It is an act of surrender.

So much of life is lived on autopilot. We react before we reflect. We speak before we pray. We spiral before we notice what is happening inside us. But peace often begins with a pause.

To stop is to make room for God in the middle of the moment. It is to interrupt the rush and remember that He is here.

Stopping may be as simple as one deep breath, one whispered prayer, one hand on your heart, one moment of silence before responding.

From a Musician’s Perspective

A musician knows what it is to keep going past the point of wisdom. We repeat the passage again and again, getting more tense, more frustrated, more self-critical, thinking that forcing will somehow produce freedom. But often the most productive thing we can do is stop. Stop before the mind hardens. Stop before the body spirals into tension. Stop before one missed shift becomes a whole story about inadequacy. In performance, in rehearsals, in lessons, in auditions, that pause may be only a breath long, but it can change everything. The pause creates space for presence, and presence is often where music becomes honest again.

Reflection

Where in my life do I tend to react quickly? What does “stop” look like for me when stress hits? What keeps me from becoming still before God?

Prayer

Lord, slow me down enough to notice You. Help me resist the urge to react from fear or urgency. Teach me the holy power of pausing in Your presence.

Action

Choose one recurring stress point today and practice a full pause before responding. Breathe and say,

Jesus, You are here.
